| Jennifer Aniston Biography, a little bit about Jennifer Aniston Jennifer Joanne Aniston (born February 11, 1969) is an American actress, best known for playing Rachel Green on the highly popular television sitcom Friends, and for her much-publicized marriage to actor Brad Pitt. Aniston was born in Sherman Oaks, California to Greek actor John Aniston (originally Ioannis Anastasakis) and his then-wife Nancy Dow, an actress of Scottish and Italian descent; she has two half-brothers, John Melick (older) and Alex Aniston, who is younger. Aniston's godfather is late Greek-American actor Telly Savalas, her father's best friend. She spent much of her childhood in New York, where her father appeared in several soap operas. In 1985, the family moved to Los Angeles, where John Aniston starred on the soap opera Days of our Lives. Aniston has previously dated musician Adam Duritz and actor Tate Donovan. Her high-profile relationship with actor Brad Pitt was frequently publicized in the media. She married Pitt on July 29, 2000 in a lavish Malibu wedding. They separated on January 7, 2005, and Aniston officially filed for divorce on March 25, 2005. The divorce was finalized on October 2, 2005. In December 2005, Aniston sued paparazzo Peter Brandt for taking photographs of her sunbathing topless in her backyard. She was photographed from more than a mile away.
